First, couple obvious changes:

These smooth cones are so cool! Shame that there isnt a 2 meter wide variant, it should honestly be added.

Also, something very important is that there are no ion engines in challenge mode! I dont know if thats a specific feature of hard mode, but that is honestly both funny and somewhat deserved, these things are pretty OP

Oh right, the rocket and the first mission. Its simple, same as the objective: Land on the Moon and return, however the small probe on top of the lander (yes, i forgot landing legs :p) will smash into this new fella!

Screenshot_2023-05-15-22-02-20-16_cba7b177b2edecae2cc69ac3f7d2b91d.png

(Thats a challenge btw, i honestly love the idea)

Anyways, its time to launch! I kinda forgot that i played on hard mode, so the rocket was pretty small compared to the size of the planet, but it did make it into orbit as you'll see.

Screenshot_2023-05-15-22-03-31-77_cba7b177b2edecae2cc69ac3f7d2b91d.png

What i noticed is that the objective text now bounces a bit and is larger, small but neat change

Screenshot_2023-05-15-22-04-05-45_cba7b177b2edecae2cc69ac3f7d2b91d.png

And i told ya! We're in orbit, much faster one than normally... That looks so weird lol

Rest of the mission in a next post.

And we've arrived, getting into orbit was kinda hard...
Screenshot_2023-05-15-22-14-31-43_cba7b177b2edecae2cc69ac3f7d2b91d.png

Doesn't it look beautiful? Just like Phobos that is... But the texture is cool at least!
Screenshot_2023-05-15-22-16-14-69_cba7b177b2edecae2cc69ac3f7d2b91d.png

Enough of praises, its time to smack into it!

And smack i did

"Landed"

I was worried when achievement didnt pop up as completed, but it is!
Screenshot_2023-05-15-22-17-50-45_cba7b177b2edecae2cc69ac3f7d2b91d.png

Now it's time to come back to the lander, it's still in LEO.

Not anymore, transfer complete. The amount of fuel is somewhat worrying, will i make it back? You'll see in another post...

Sadly, the mission has failed. The amount of fuel was nowhere near enough to return... I shouldnt have forgotten that this is hard mode. Our astronaut is stranded, which means only one thing... A rescue mission!

It's time for the rescue mission! As you can see, the rocket is much larger now, and it even has a rover which we will use to transport stranded astronauts to the lander.

Let's launch it!

All of achievements i got during the mission were showing one by one, which i think is cool. Also, flight logs have remained which is cool.

is it possible to pull a DART and change the asteroid’s orbit?

Most likely not, the asteroid has a preset orbit the same as for planets, so you can't change it.
You wouldn't do much anyway, the real DART mission changed the asteroid speed by something like 0.4 mm/s if I remember well. The change of trajectory wouldn't be significant.

It actually was pretty visible if i remember correctly, exceeded expectations. However, it hit a moonlet of the asteroid, so it was noticeable just because of the system being so small

Think that the mission we proved that if we detected a modestly sized asteroid was in a trajectory headed our way in 20 years, we'd be able to deflect it enough to not be of risk to Earth.

Yeah its definetely a reference to the DART mission. Btw, i should maybe revive this thread sometime, i don't have the world i made these challenges on anymore, but i could just do them quickly and skip to the ones i havent made

Cool! I'd be happy to post a bit too! A few days ago I started a world with hard and challenge mode on!
I'm also going to try and make I no clip for as long as possible also I think a Venus and back noclip would be almost impossible. I've only been able to do it once in normal with clip.
