By burning full retrograde once the temp reaches 100C and continuing till the temperature starts falling again, then a slower burn + 4 parachutes to land down safely
I can record the process if you’d like, I already have a quick save at low mars orbit
I believe that that stage is for getting the transfer speed just right.
Here is a demonstration of the maneuver that I used to land on mars. Here, I started the burn before entering the atmosphere, which led to a much lower velocity upon entry and as a result I did not heat up atall. here is the video link.
