If the asteroid belt is considered one large entity, it might not lag. But asteroids would all move together on the same path, not colliding or anything, which might actually be a good thing, since they won't throw themselves off orbit over time.
That's a good solution, although it will decrease realism cause asteroids don't really move as one, besides how would the asteroids would affect trajectory if their SOI is a ring? How can you accelerate around them... However the asteroid belt still MUST be on the game

Well they wouldn’t be a perfect ring would they they have gaps of 10 to 100km.

Outer planets are confirmed. I was talking with Stef one night and i asked him about gas giants such as Jupiter and Saturn. He mentioned that we won't be able to land on them because they don't have a solid surface. But we can land on their moons. Such as Titan

but would we be able to travel into them?

But he would have to make other systems. And he did not even finish the Solar System.

I can't wait to get trough the Asteroid Belt, fly Saturn's rings and to land on Titan

I propose to put the Asteroid Belt as An animation only, I mean, knowing that many of the Asteroids are smaller than a car wheel I don't think it would be necesary to place them on the map (yet still I hope we can crash them). The map only needs to show an area pointed as "Asteroid Belt". Only the bigger Asteroids such as Ceres, Palas and Juno (sorry, I don't know their names in English) can be pointed on the map, have a SOI and allowed to land on them. I think that would reduce the lag and be interesting as well. That's my idea.

I agree with that. Adding the most significant asteroids makes sense, but adding every single rock won't be interesting (we have already Deimos and Phobos though) and make the game lag. For the rest, an animation showing a conglomerate of dust and small rocks would be largely ok for me.

Wow, I was not expecting to see this thread again. It's pretty crazy to see messages I posted 3 years ago. And I actually remember typing some of these o_O
