Exclusive Insight
Mars's first power station was completed yesterday, it's fuel source? a newly discovered radioactive element, Holleinium.
This new resource is still under heavy research, but after many test's it has proven to be both safer and more potent than its cousins Uraniun-235 and plutonium-239, and is fairly abundant under the Martian Surface.
The reactor is part of a government contract with Ellipse Power Ccc. which aims to build Mars' power network with it's innovative solutions, and Highly refined technology and techniques. the contract details three power stations of this level, and an extensive network of underground power lines and recycling facilities.
The power station is said to have a base output of 1,500 MW, this is enough to power both what will be the Mars' main research facility, and the new industrial complex, with plenty to spare, this could potentially provide the cheapest electricity in the Inner Solar System!
our reporter John Littleback managed to arrange an interview with the stations manager, Amber Sutled, which can be seen on the MBC IPlayer later today. the highlights are below;
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
John: so, the station could potentially employ 1,200 workers directly, and another 3,000 indirectly, is this true?
Amber: Yes, 1,200 on-site, this includes everyone, from the main controllers themselves, the canteen workers and lift operators. for the indirect 3,000 , these include community projects, we have had a few colleges and uni's in the area ask if they can have a tour around the site, and some secondary schools asking for us to come in and give talks to their pupils. otherwise, the indirect are transport workers, ferrying the Holleinium to the reactors from the refinement plants, then from the reactor to the recycle plants, we are even creating jobs in the recycling plant itself.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
John: so, we have been given little information on the amount that the contract stands at financially...
Amber: I am at no stage to disclose that information, but it is enough for all of the sites, with plenty in reserve.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The picture on the left is a picture taken by the local Photographer Will, the picture shows the start of the cable network, cooling panels and the main
Will le'sham-23 Reactor chambers. below is a diagram of the station from the intelligence gathered by both John and Will.
This is half of stage 2, the other half is on the other side of the planet, closer to the Holleinium Mines.
to finish the subject, there will be a podcast on spoti-tunes -> MBCasts, which will be hosted by John Littleback and feature the President of the Mars Environmental Defence society and Amber Sutled
