Ready for lift-off! No, before you ask, the boosters are not drop-able. I hope that's ok, but I'll understand if it isn't.


Lift-off and climb.


MECO after clearing the atmosphere and fuel is below 20%? Left booster gets shut down gradually and early for balance reasons.


Gentle phase on Frontiers.


SECO just short of achieving orbit.


Detach and flip the payload! James Bond villain laugh.
This is the point where things went wrong for the payload in real life....


Open the fairing to reveal the kickstage Functional Cargo Block.

Deploy arrays and head for orbit!


You may fire the main weapon when ready. Pew pew.

This thing is pretty functional, a replica able to SSTO while being over 17% payload. I wonder how big a payload I can carry on the side if part of the payload is a kickstage with 500m/s of dV or so...
Anyway, hope you liked it, and please don't hesitate to point out any mistakes.
Gonna post this and then quickly put some bp pics in next post.

Landing! I had a bit of a "OH CRAP, I'M HEADED FOR OLYMPUS MONS" moment where I adjusted my trajectory by diving into deeper air and staying there.


Rover gets to go and play! :3 Some sample collection with arm.


Headed back to Earth. You can see the climb over Olympus Mons, which I had to avoid on the way in.


Earth re-entry and heatshield disposal.

Safe powered landing after disposal of parachute at 100m.

I've got 2 out of 4 space station launches planned out.

Using the Energia to bring up the propulsion and first livable module, because why not?


Energia to bring up the radiators and solar arrays too.


By accidental incredible timing and generous fuel consumption, I was able to get the arrays to near the station within a quarter orbit.


They say there's no overkill.... But using that rocket for transporting some nodes and an airlock might count. My 1kt lifter is simply a version of that rocket cut-down by 1000 tonnes..

Tune in next time for the last construction launch (science module and escape craft) once my phone is recharged.
