When you say trouble, in what way?

Orbit is fine but it’s I can never seem to get it right even if I burn right as I enter the burn period

Depending on what engine you're using when you start your burn. If you're using a semi-powerful engine, burning in the middle of the transfer window will get you an encounter, no problem. Using Ion engines, whilst being very efficient, produce almost no thrust and you may need to go around a few times to get it sorted

Yeah, definitely the middle then, that's quite a lot of thrust in space
