There's a way to make custom parts, I'm not sure of the specifics.

I’ve had it worked on mobile but it wasn’t like the thing I expected
Modding is not possible on mobile. Mobile code is heavily encrypted/obfuscated to deter piracy. It also doesn't have a way to properly load any external C# code and neither it has for DLL files.

If I were to be honest. The UI in my opinion is a downgrade compared to previous version/s of the mod, it is less intuitive and harder to navigate

Make sure you are in the steam beta for the mods in this section, otherwise they will not work.

ASoD's guide to using the beta:
How to access the Steam beta:
1. Open Steam, then go to your library.
2. Right click on SFS, then go to "Properties...".
3. Click on the "BETAS" tab, then paste the beta password: wab4P4muxJLdD8Y1
4. Select the public beta from the dropdown menu.
5. Let Steam update the game to the beta.
