Update Peeks 2

I think that astronauts would be a cool addition, but I definitely think that they should be as simple as he can get them. Like just simple models that can walk left to right, and just have a little RCS pack
A little rcs guy pops out of the capsule when you poke it is about what I’d expect, but will he have a tether...and can we break it

The problem with the astronauts is that they are going to be really small. Approximately 3.5 - 4 squares high, and 1 square wide.

Those are the approximate measures of a human in SFS

That's pretty big if you think about it. Compare that to a capsule.

And you people send these capsules on multi-decade journeys...

Is it based on a Mercury capsule?
Someone posted a line schematic some time ago, certainly wouldn’t want to go where I’ve sent those like that

And it still needs to have a mass of 4 tons... Is it made out of lead?
Ha, everything is made of anvils in SFS. I made a 1:1 scale Hubble back for the initial Excaliber mission and it was 10 times heavier than the real thing.

4 tons is an enormous amount of weight for a single unpowered cone with a chair inside.

Well, there’s the heat shield to start
Mercury-Redstone complete was 1,400kg. The heat shield on the much larger, 3 man Apollo weighed 1,400kg.

That's 2,800kg if you were to nail one onto the other. Which is over-kill, but I can't find figures on the ablative layer on Mercury and I highly doubt it'll weigh as much as the one for Apollo.
Where's the other 1,200kg+ come from for a single man capsule...?

Reaction wheels with 5kn torque would be pretty massive I imagine..
The capsule has 5kN of torque and it also needs room for astronauts, life support, etc.

4 kN-m reaction wheel on ISS (smaller than the one in the SFS capsule):

(Control Moment Gyroscope, if you wanna be specific)

More proof to the matter that the astronauts are packed in the capsules like sardines.

Although, there should still be room for everything.

Don’t mind the fact that the passenger cannot even see the controls, they’re not necessary anyway, right?

I put the mercury capsule over the SFS capsule. This is roughly how large an astronaut would be. Also, a structural piece and engine for scale.

I don't see a round 5kN reaction wheel of 1m diameter. :D

Bandwidth, that guy is like the size of a baby.:p

Do you think capsules would use reaction wheels or control moment gyroscopes?
