Does anyone know how to get rid of this reverse shadow thing when making rings from fuel tanks?

I think it relates to whether or not the part is flipped, like having an x of -1 or 1 for a part's transformation. or it could be the part's rotation like at a z of 180 vs a z of 0. though you are truly an inspiration for dealing with this stuff on a mobile device
