Original thin parachute glues to parts on the longer sides, but doesn't glue to both parts above and below a small square - you can glue it to one of the two, and second part is free then, while original thick parachute glues to both up and down parts, though it is less wide and doesn't glue to side parts at all.
I guess parachute in the picture above is smaller than both originals, and thus it doesn't glue to either parts at all, nor horizontal, nor vertical, which is a benefit.
