Hawk is a considerably old member.
Guess it shows how long I've been following the forums I guess. Hawk is an old member but Danny is older (By like 2 years). Maybe a better word for Danny is ancient lol

Two mechanical and assembly halls have been completed and are ready for departure to the moon! I’ve held off on launching them for just a bit to see if I can manage to fit anything inside of them to save an extra launch in the future.
IMG_6864.jpeg

These two structures are considerably large (100x50 meters). I did completely drain each of them of fuel to bring down their mass to around one kiloton. So this should not be too much of a challenge for Bowhead.

These halls will be essential to establishing a launch pad on the moon and creating modules to utilise on the moon itself. However, they are not quite ready to operate. Smaller mining colonies will still need to be set up to provide the resources needed to manufacture parts along with the need for the storage depot, mentioned in an earlier post, to store vital resources in a specific location for use in these halls.

Both mechanical and assembly halls have successfully landed on the moon after transport onboard Bowhead. With this done, work will begin on the storage depot and other mining colonies.

Moon orbit undocking. Which I then had to redock because I forgot to transfer fuel to the hall.

This is self explanatory.

There’s just one problem—and of course it’s the one time I didn’t think I’d need to test any of the mechanisms. The boosters used for landing won’t separate so I’ll be removing them manually.

I’ve finished some of the storage modules, but I decided to take a break from that and modify my current cargo transport vessel.

Introducing the ITSA Barracuda!
IMG_6884.jpeg

Modified from previous versions to have an extended cargo bay but at the cost of the two escorts. Due to no defences being present, the Barracuda will only be safe to travel along secure routes.

Also note the landing legs…

And here’s a little something for old times sake. A side by side comparison, if you will, and a testament to how far the ITSA/CTA has come.

How do you do the logos on your ships Hawk?

Time and bp editing. Don’t really have too many tools available for editing things. Just a file editor since I do this all on my phone.

Like what specifically did you do? did you do the thing where you shrink fuel tanks/fairings to make them appear over the other tanks?

The logo itself is made up of a lot of smaller fairings and I just have to make sure to place it on a fuel tank that isn’t too wide (so that the logo or part of it doesn’t get covered over). On the transport vessels, the logo is 10x10 and it’s placed over 1x3 fuel tanks so that the fuel tanks don’t interfere.

While I’m still trying to get some idea of how to put together the next modules for my moon colony I went ahead and made another ship.

The devastator class orbital bombardment vessel.
IMG_6895.jpeg

It has a capacity of 192 unguided explosive devices capable of surviving reentry although my phone immediately crashes so it can only hold 96 for me. The number of devices available for drop allows for maximum damage over a large area with little need for precision targeting.
This vessel will be primarily launched from the moon once the launchpad is complete.

Surprising, it is incredible to see that you are back, I always liked the design of your ships, I am already out of the game but I liked that you have returned to this thread

I moved several more modules to the moon. However I realised I should probably try and see if I can move the launchpad there… and ran into some problems. For some reason I’m not able to move the launchpad to the moon without everything in the desired quick-save, except one rocket, being deleted. So I thought maybe I could just move the launchpad to where my colony currently is then place the modules I already landed on the moon again. Then another problem, I know how to move the launchpad (and I did) but not how to rotate it so it’s flat with the ground and not perpendicular to it. Any suggestions?

I believe it involves the angle of the space center in the space center data, rotation is its place on the planet and it should probably be parallel to the ground, though I may be wrong

That’s what I thought, but adjusting the “angle” portion changes the position of the launchpad about the center of the “address”, in this case the Moon. Seems like that’s what “horizontalPostion” should do but they both achieve the same thing in my case.

Have you tried creating a world with the launchpad at the moon and then putting the quicksaves file into that world? Or rockets.txt

I have tried both. Run into the same problems unfortunately. I won’t be at a complete loss with having to place these things again though, so really no worries.
