Or LRS for shortening. It probably sounds a little redundant to say a Shuttle is reusable, but on these ones, the Lift booster also lands safely back on Earth, so these ones are 100% reusable.

From left to right, meet:
LRS Schielle, capable of 70 tons to orbit.
LRS Akira, capable of 100 tons to orbit.
LRS Kyala, capable of 150 tons to orbit.

They all work with drag truly on.

nose cone is too cone, hit ground at orbital velocity
Oh no, the aerodynamic thing is too aerodynamic.

That's because you don't have drag turned on. Exit and resume the game before you try to land and then say you managed to hit the ground at 1650m/s in freefall.

but when i tried to make the flat part face prograde, it slowed. then it spun out of control
Aerodynamic instability. You should be extremely aware of this, having played Kerbal Space Program for so long.

I wish there was a way to make something controllable hit the ground at 1600 m/s....
The only thing that can do that are fairings with nothing attached (aka uncontrollable), right?

Unless you don't activeate drag, just barely go suborbital, don't pop any stage separators and accelerate like mad on the way down.
