Successful test launch:

Successful Exploration test:
Screenshot_20191105-111639.png

Necessary section modifications were made to avoid complications that were successfully dealt with, but made the launch terribly inefficient. Now the first mission is being prepared for launch:

Also, a new unconnected door has been installed for assistance free use in 0g.

It's coming along quite nicely. Keep up the awesome job! :)

Ladies and gentlemen, rocket lovers and rocket scientists...

I present to you, the very pinnacle of my engineering obsessions and quests... what the Emperor would call the holy grail of movable constructions in Spaceflight Simulator 1.4.06...

The Ghost Hinge.

It locks on both ends, and is based on my swing joint, which is capable of rotating about 240º around its axis.

So you already went for the crazy Erganium-Djamayanti system, huh?
Hell, those are a big challenge :)!

I suggest you to visit Prunov, Lirco and Jingmei. Those are my favorite planets on that system.
Fun fact: in "The Constellation of Eternia" (the version you are playing) Jingmei has no ring, but it will have a small set on "Eternia 2".
Blazer you'd better be grateful there's a massive ocean between us. I'm really feeling like kicking your ass to Velkarion for making me do dumb shit like this... don't understand? Stay tuned to be duly enlightened...

Ok first Actual Official launch. Research Azeera.

StarShot is not heavily loaded. But what it carries will lead us to some fine near death exp... um, I mean adventures.

Pandora boosters out of the equation.

...And orbit without touching the main fuel supply :D

Course set for Azeera.
Screenshot_20191107-205151.png

Full retroburn. Pretty much the only time I'll need that Titan.

Perfect orbit established around Azeera. Now for some experiments! But first, the construction of...

Hahaha! I'm just glad someone across the ocean is enjoying my work! That's the best reward of all:)!

Let's set up our facilities then.

"Wait a minute i thought we're doing experiments?"
Yeah yeah shut up, we'll get there.

See, StarShot is not just a ship to reaxh far planets. It is a complete space station. Fuel, cargo, people, and yes: experiments. You'd expect no less from any star explorer.

So, the experiments you've been annoying me about, lol...
Screenshot_20191107-221341.png

An atmospheric probe to avoid any FRICKING DEATHS like SupremeDorian and Blazer apparently thinks I should do. Boring as eating paper for supper, I say... anyway, no dead pilots today.

The damn experiment, I know, I know...
There you go. Now leave me alone, will ya?

There were two. But the first failed to activate. That's why I brought two, just in case. Right good I did too.

Ok, from here I'm heading to Kyjoo the only planet closer to Velkarion than Earth.
Screenshot_20191107-222405.png

But not before collecting tons of valuable data.

Going retrograde back around Earth was expensive... but repaid me with a beautiful comeback assist with Azeera.
Screenshot_20191107-224525.png

And despite the fact that I'm on the wrong side of Velkarion, I get pretty close to Kyjoo! One orbit later...
Screenshot_20191107-224905.png

Not bad...

And then...
Screenshot_20191108-030018.png

So yeah... I was completely freaked out. I was physically shaking from nerves after the flyby. You understand now, Blazer?
Screenshot_20191107-225807.png

At this point I remembered to, you know, take screenshots. 175km to go and no installation yet...
Screenshot_20191107-230027.png

50km to go and the drone's still out! Plus I was making stupid drone handling mistakes because my brain was wrecked.
Screenshot_20191107-230132.png

Imagine that... got the aligned less than 10km left before periapsis. I was shredded. Because at this point I had no idea how much my periapsis has shifted due to docking, etc., or in which direction... no chance to look, and too late to look anyway.
Screenshot_20191107-230218.png

Screenshot_20191107-230228.png

Anyway... got some really rewarding data from this near tragedy.

Enjoy those close flybys while you can. Kyjoo will have a Thin Mars-like atmo on Eternia 2.

Also, Udgard, Azeera, and many other planet's will have day-night cycles, made by Gurren Lagann.

Now that I need a couple of years of psychiatric care to return humanity to my being...
Ok, so the drone gets incorporated into the ion drive profile for 20% more ion thrust.

To get another encounter on the fly. This time the flyby is over a "dead" landscape. Just the way lava should be XD.

Glorious...
Screenshot_20191107-235855.png

That's some good work. This slingshot should see us heading back to UDGARD. BECAUSE EARTH IS UDGARD, BUT UDGARD IS NOT EARTH. See, fine job I did there :)
Screenshot_20191108-001129.png

Great! But idiot me went in retro... which meant some serious "screw you" encounters...
Screenshot_20191108-001312.png

So... You see those two spacecraft approaching me head-on at a speed differential of about 3.9 kilometers each second...
... Well, as with all things SFS, shit got weird: both approaching shuttles disappeared like they passed over the Bermuda Triangle or something. Seconds after the pass:
Screenshot_20191108-001327.png

Then, as I settled into an 80km retro orbit, my poor 1.7kiloton fuel depot in a prograde 80km orbit lost heart and gave up... disappearing into another dimension rather than continuing to submit itself to my mental abuse.
Screenshot_20191108-002251.png

Screenshot_20191108-002657.png

Ain't she a beaut? Though undoubtedly a fine fit for a mental institution by this point in time...
