Since the in-game mod installer (Generously created by NeptuneSky) No longer works, I thought i would make my own, Introducing!
SFSMDB! (While the name is a mouthful, it is straight to the point!)
This is, admittedly, still in the concept stages, but, if you have ever played Kerbal Space Program, you may be familiar with CKAN. I aim to make this
the CKAN of SFS.

Here is a picture of the concept UI:

I will update this whenever I release the 1st Version. (I also don't know if this counts as a mod or not.)

Please request mods to be added, If there is a mod I want to add, I will ask before I add it.

Hello,

This is a good idea, it would be great if you could achieve this. Since this is a work in progress and there's no download right now, I moved your thread to general discussions, but it could be moved in the mod section when it's done.

Of course, you have my authorization to add my mods :)

The engine i am using to make this (CF2.5) is not cooperating with my antivirus (Avast). I just can't build. Anyone got any tips?

The majority of anti-viruses have functionally to ignore certain programs; add the CF2.5 thing to the ignore list.

I apparently don't have access to the folder I am using to save the program. I don't know how to fix this, if any fellow clickteam fusion devs can help me with this i would love it

If anyone wants to design a logo go for it! Now, I'm not sure if I'm gonna provide download links from wherever the mod is linked or what, but I will probably use that. Also, your mods need to be in compressed and able to be added straight into the mods folder for the extraction and installation to work. This will probably only be available for windows for a long time.

Edit - Should I move it to github? I want a community vote for that.

Yeah, github is probably at bit more organized, its your choice though

Honestly, using github or not is your choice, it depends on how you want to manage your project.

This is how the installation system will work

for those who don't like illustrations it will request the mod from wherever it is held, carry the zip to the SFS mods folder, and extract it there.

Now, Apologies, but mods like ANAIS and other mods that aren't zips will not be supported in 1.0, I cannot figure out how to get that to work, my problem is that the function I am using to download it (the only function I know that can download it, requires me to save it to a custom file, I was gonna rename it after to drop it in the mods folder but that approach will not work.

As im bad at explaining things:

I'm ok to provide a zip of my mods if that can help. Most of my mods have the auto-update feature (and those who don't, I don't update it anymore), so even if I update them, the zip itself won't be updated, but the game will trigger the update automatically.

that idea would work but in practice it cant with the limited availability of functions in the program. Also, I cannot figure out how to get the file to extract. I cannot tell if the zip functions are broken but I will try to fix it.

When Nim made his database he had a separate column to let you select what type of mod it is then the installer would check that and handle it accordingly. You don't have to worry about automatically detecting it if you just manually specify it.

due to the limitations of the (admittedly limited) functions in the download object, this will not work, I am sorry, but that's how it works. It downloads the file with no extension and you have to rename it afterwards (also, thanks for inspiring me to work on this! Without you I would've never thought about this project!)
