Pretty big discovery here
If you turn a fairing sideways and than clip it into a docking port, so the top of the docking port juuuust about pokes out, it makes the docking port look much smaller.

This can be used to make the docking ports appear thinner, or to better hide them.
And the best part? It can dock and undock!!

Bonus tip: you can use side separators in conjunction with this method to prevent the fairings from popping off it you accidentally touch them. It is cleaner and more refined than using struts.

well if you want to get rid of half of the fairing you can clip a strut into the side separator
