SCS Tekna. The top secret load transported. Whatever remains a secret until further notice will be transported in her belly. She'll be fitted out with removable weapons of Sanctor Batten's choice and design.
Screenshot_20190117-162543.png

The powerful SCS Tekna on the right, with 9t less fuel on board, the upper Frontier replaced with a Titan, and an armour plated roof. On the left is the SCS Senna which has been trimmed down in mass by every possible kilogram I could manage.

Here are the specs: (m / f / twr / fuel)
Gecko》707.2t / 224t / 0.32 / 594t
Senna》644.8t / 224t / 0.35 / 540.25t
Tekna》715.1t / 412t / 0.59 / 585t

Ok so I sent the gecko back for the final time. It won't see Earth again, if everything goes according to plan. It now serves as a temporary station at ARA. Next, the Senna will pick up it's first payload.
Screenshot_20190118-172005.png

550t of fuel accompanies the Gecko... 10% more than what it's done before. It's slooooow... But not beaten.

And off it goes... sort of. Three oberth burns gets it to Mars.

... nearly empty. Her payload is untouched though. I seriously thought it a realistic possibility I'd have to tap its reserve. But not this time :D

SCS Gecko Station set up. Yes it looks the same as before. But the greatest progress is not always obvious. In the Gecko's belly now lies the lifeblood of the Martian Mission: fuel.

How's that for a first image after finishing time warp back to earth station...

This is nostalgic for more members than just me. The original mission that this is a shadow of, is how I established my presence in this forum.

Time to land the elephant, ladies.
Hoo-ha!

Shunting is an acquired skill... geeeently does it...

Could only use one Frontier to move in excess of 1100t to Mars... activating the upper engine made the craft spin. Patience... Control...

Nervous moments

DID IT!
Though I had to burn half MADD Tower's fuel reserve...
But it marks great progress: Ground mobility is go.

That orange door is the staff entrance.it is 2m tall. The tower is nigh on 9 storeys high (26.5m)and has a dedicated landing pad up top for the fuel tanker.

Ok so I'm sending up two balls. One will be the default fuel supply for the station at ARA. The other will be sent down to refuel the tower when necessary. The carrier already awaits it. They will be transported separately though, in convoy.

Convoy loaded up and ready to go... Um, the Senna on the left is hauling over 800t... payload limit is a modest 550t. Not too worried about getting there. My real concern is braking...

Here we go. Off goes the convoy:
Screenshot_20190121-201118.png

First the Senna, to set the pace, being the heaviest and least able to catch up. One orbit later the Tekna follows:
Screenshot_20190121-201706.png

So much easier, especially thanks to that Titan that is unique to it in the SCS fleet.
Screenshot_20190121-202238.png
Screenshot_20190121-202511.png
Screenshot_20190121-203137.png
Screenshot_20190121-203849.png
Screenshot_20190121-203856.png

One Earth orbit is enough to make several orbits difference around Mars. So that gives me chance to circularise the Senna's orbit before the Tekna arrives at periapsis. It took about 3 orbits to circularise because of the massive overload and inability to use both Frontiers due to it inducing spin with the heavy load intact combined with the empty main tank.
Screenshot_20190121-210359.png

And even then, it wasn't enough. I used 13% of one of the fuel tanks in its belly to finish circularising to ARA.

Ok the Tekna found reaching ARA quite easy. It was bustling at the station. The fuel delivery ship was assembled first, the Tekna settled in ARA much closer to the station than the Senna.

The Senna meets up with Gecko Station.

Screenshot_20190121-225124.png

That is the load the Gecko carried. It is now needed, and cannot operate from inside the load bay.

Short update on the station at TRA:

Screenshot_20190122-211227.png
Screenshot_20190122-212416.png

That tank holds 2353.5t of fuel. We'll phase out the old tanks over the next 7 or 8 trips to Mars and add an appropriately painted version.

Sanctor, are you pleased with Terra Circa Station upgrade?
