US carrier to Spanish radio conversation

LMFAO this "clip" is a urban legend/joke that's been around for such a long time bud.. Also, US Naval vessels wouldn't have much of an issue positively identifying a lighthouse / landmass. That is not even taking into consideration the radar/sonar arrays, RLGN/GPS, seabed mapping, or old...

Not going to defend the CC in any way and personally look forward to the elections. Both sides have their twisted ass pros/cons depending on your own preferences. Can we shut this thread down yet?

Working a SpaceX booster landing system... Thoughts so far?

Okay so I canned this design and updated it yesterday. Here is the new BP post: Working SpaceX style booster landing system (Updated design and landing instructions)

That does not look like the right BP. I will investigate what happened.

Working SpaceX style booster landing system (Updated design and landing instructions)

lol its a good design and it works thus far. I wonder if Elon's comment about getting 100 launches out of a boosters is reasonable while maintain a low operation cost. I get the basics that the cost saving will come down range as the launch cadence picks up and they have more boosters in rotation.

Working SpaceX style booster landing system (Updated design and landing instructions)

So I think I got it. I went with a wheeled retainment system that allows it to deploy the legs while in descending. The booster needs to be going <30m/s to deploy correctly. The base has enough power to launch a 2nd stage into orbit so feel free to use the BP and practice landing it. New...

But... but.. but... power ratio must be to da max... lol It was a bit of sarcasm (poking). I myself drive a hybrid these days after years of owning gas guzzling behemoths. Yes, the solar car could last for as long as the solar cells and batteries were viable however it is very limited in...

I agree with Horus. I also would like to throw this submariner saying out there: Some ships are boats. All boats are submarines.

Oh heck yes! I love their agile development process. My program has moved to a similar process and while its demanding it is paying off quickly. Read that the F-heavy is going to beat Boeing back to the ISS with the new Dragon 2 module. Should be interesting!

Love the flying grain silo.... Not going to lie... Big SpaceX fan long before they were successful. One of my interns last year spent his prior year interning for SpaceX and he was in love with the company.

It has issues with deploying on decent without a lock in place. You have to be quick with the legs pushing down on it. I need to build a lock into the mechanism.

The folks are right about it being way over powered but take it all with a grain of salt. They mean well and are trying to mentor the SFS engineers. With that said dream on and have fun bro. Do both exotic and data driven builds.

Working a SpaceX booster landing system... Thoughts so far?

Sure. Its in need of a lot of work on on the leg retainment. I'll work on it today. You need to deploy while accelerating or they flay away at the moment.

    Lunar capable shuttle (WIP)

Yes... I'm very aware. This build is clearly (I hope) a novelty/aesthetic in nature. I get the point that practicality and efficiency is the name of the game.
