i think i did it. its trajectory isnt efficient but it works!
Nice rocket and payload, I wonder how many layers of fuel tank you superimposed to condense that mass in such a reduced "volume" (we are in a 2D game...)

However, and unless I'm mistaken, the last screenshot suggests that you consumed some fuel from the payload (there's "fuel: 41%" displayed in the bottom left corner).
If you consumed the fuel the payload doesn't weigh 1000 tons anymore, it must be sent full on orbit.

I revive that thread again for a new performance. Here is my payload, that's slightly over 1 kton:

Wait, I've already done more than that, so what's the point? Well, there's a subtle difference...
Screenshot_20210415-194436_Spaceflight Simulator.jpg

That's right, I'm doing it in IRIS!

Let me present the first kiloton lifter built for IRIS:
Screenshot_20210415-194427_Spaceflight Simulator.jpg

Yep, the SSSSSLS, the Strongly Steroidized version of the SSSLS. That's a launcher I initially built a while ago for this purpose. The one you saw until now is actually a variant, that one has a second stage.

Enough talk, let's go!
Screenshot_20210415-194505_Spaceflight Simulator.jpg

I like how the launcher is still clearly visible from that distance, even if the launchpad isn't...
Screenshot_20210415-194558_Spaceflight Simulator.jpg

The flight goes very well...
Screenshot_20210415-194719_Spaceflight Simulator.jpg Screenshot_20210415-194724_Spaceflight Simulator.jpg

Then booster separation, and the rocket continues on its 56 Frontier engines:
Screenshot_20210415-194743_Spaceflight Simulator.jpg Screenshot_20210415-194759_Spaceflight Simulator.jpg

Fairing separation, revealing both the payload and the Frontier array from the second stage:

And finally, the last stage ignition:

Until I reach orbit:

And it still has fuel to spare

Sure, there's a full row of probes on the last stage. There are also a few ones hidden on top of the first stage. That way, a part of the probes is jettisoned, as I alleviate the rocket I need less of them.

I'm preparing to launch a 12 kiloton payload, which should be quite interesting to say the least. I know the purpose of this challenge isn't to get the most mass to orbit, but I didn't know where else to post this. Anyway, the mass right now is 24 kilotons, which just includes the top stage and payload.

Could make a 'dead lift' thread for these enormous launch systems.

unfortunatly my komodo lifter doesn' comply with the challenge rules :(
As the creator of the challenge, I can confirm that it would qualify as long as the actual launch doesn't use cheats. :)
