The boosters take it most of the way to orbit. Shuttle engines are on fron launch. It has around 30% fuel left in LEO. Enough for Mars and back. A refuel will take it anywhere in the solar system.
I actually have a (reusable) shuttle that isn't just a flying nose cone now Will happily take 100T to LEO, or to LLO and back, or to Mars *and back*. Powered by just 25 ions when the (OP edit-free) booster is jettisoned.
That I can do. The only time cheats are used is during transport to the recovery facility (Because I ain't hauling this thing halfway across the globe just to flip over onto the launchpad and snap off the tail.)
