Ok now that we're up to date... I'm rebuilding that mission. Upgraded of course. Around Mars, if you will consent Commander? Shuttle deliveries only. Same challenge. New beast. Old heart. Same reason.
I can’t wait to see her! I hope you give her some badass weapons!

Well we need to transport the old witch to Mars in something... behold...

The most recent mutation of the IPC...

She's a beaut! Flew to Mars on her second test flight. Without refuelling...

No aero braking used. Was modified a bit for practicality before being painted and put on a launchpad for its first official flight.

The original TtTOtW is back baby!

I hereby unveil...

The SCS - Solar Colonisation Shuttle.

That is correct: refuelled in Earth orbit, it can go anywhere in the Solar System. Fully loaded. And return. Watch me grin...

How do you land it though? I get that it has wheels, but taking off horizontally doesn't seem fun...

It is not primarily a lander. Just landing capable. It's primarily an orbit to orbit hauler.
Ah, okay, that makes more sense.
That's the main reason I've been steering away from my shuttle. The lack of landing capability will give me problems with what I've been trying to do.

It'll land and take off easily on low g bodies though. Mars might strand her unless she's prepped for it via attachments.

Behold... the scary Russian nurse that terrifies you back to health:

BRUMHILDA!

She'll take care of you. Whether you like it or not.

You probably won't...

Brumhilda's tentacles were installed today.

Lost a drone in the process but no major damage. Still, the Emperor does not need to demean himself and use defective equipment. Landed it on Earth for meltdown.

Also installed a relatively small fuel station at TRA - Terran Rendezvous Altitude (80km).

Arean Rendezvous Altitude (ARA) is 60km, Brumhilda's home during Critical Assembly phase.
SCS Gecko is docked to it, ready to load.

Well... now we officially know her transfer mass limit... juuuust about half a kiloton from TRA to ARA. Reserve tank untouched, for a guaranteed return to TRA (unloaded)

The remaining fuel tanks are the reserve tank in the nose, the MADDs you see on the roof the 0g Imperial MDDs you can also see by the tail fun, and the main payload in its shockingly cavernous belly: a full 3 stage rocket including boosters. Excluding payload. But that rocket still weighs 249.6t, so...

Right... that rocket...

That rocket is about 30m tall and awaits a payload to be sent up to a more complete future rendition of the station I'm building around Brumhilda. The drones have been parked, they await a refuel and rechute station which will be hauled from Earth by SCS Senna. That's right, another one. Make its acquaintance:

It's currently docked in TRA, awaiting its load.

And SCS Gecko? It will be a temporary base for Brumhilda. The Senna will do the hauling for a while from now.
