The time I went it was... well about 1 1/2 hours away so I just decided to enjoy the scenery. Now though I have a 2nd SD card that I just leave in the camera so that doesn’t have to happen again.
Yeah same here. I’ve been trying to tell James before that you can capture significantly more than what you can see with just your eyes. Even in extremely light polluted areas, it is still possible to get half decent results.

That’s pretty good for a 4 minute exposure! You should look into image stacking. Basically taking a bunch of long sub exposures, then putting them into a program which will stack them together. That’s the technique I use for my images, really let’s you get a lot out of em.

I'm pretty sure it was actually 16 photos, each a 15 second exposure. I'm definitely planning on doing stacking later, but right now I'm just figuring out the basics.
